Kids Discover the Trail!

Thank you!

Community support makes Kids Discover the Trail! possible. The Discovery Trail is expanding the program to reach all public school elementary students in Tompkins County. During the 2016-17 school year, students from Dryden, Groton, Ithaca, Lansing, Newfield and Trumansburg school districts will participate in KDT!

As the Discovery Trail continues to expand the Kids Discover the Trail! (KDT!) to include all elementary students in Tompkins County, we appreciate our supporters in all communities now more than ever. The Discovery Trail is leading the fundraising efforts that will make this growth possible. We will continue to engage donors who have contributed to KDT! through the Ithaca Public Education Initiative and Trumansburg Central School District Foundation in the past, as well as seek additional support from those who value experience based learning across Tompkins County schools.

Your charitable gift of any amount is welcomed and needed.

Join these generous donors to help bring equal access to experience based learning for all elementary students in Tompkins County!

kids readingKids Discover the Trail! provides experience-based programs at the eight Discovery Trail sites. Students receive a site-specific keepsake book to continue the learning experience at home and free family admission (where applicable) for a follow-up visit. The program is currently operating for all Ithaca City School District (ICSD) students in grades Pre-K through 5 and all Trumansburg Central School District (TCSD) students in grades Pre-K through 6. Several grades in Dryden Central School District (DCSD), Groton Central School District(GCSD), Lansing Central School District (LCSD) and Newfield Central School District (NCSD) also participate. The Discovery Trail is working to expand the program to the reach all public school elementary students in Tompkins County.

Collaboration between the eight Discovery Trail institutions, local foundations such as IPEI and TCSD, area school districts, PTA groups, and other local nonprofits makes it possible to deliver and fund these field trips.

Kids Discover the Trail! is funded by gifts from local foundations, businesses, community members, and is supported by DCSD, GCSD, ICSD, NCSD, LCSD and TCSD.
